If you are wondering how solar systems work - it's as simple as 1-2-3...

1. Solar Panels

Solar Panels are made of photovoltaic cells which convert sunlight into electricity. Solar panels are typically installed on top of roofs and produce Direct Current (DC) electricity.

2. Inverter

Inverters are used to convert the Direct Current (DC) electricity produced by the solar panels to Alternating Current (AC) electricity which is the standard electricity delivered by the grid and used in your home.

3. Utility Generating Meter

The electricity then travels from the inverter to the utility generating meter. The utility generating meter measures the electricity your solar system produces, thus accumulating money with your local electricity distribution company.

The electricity your home consumes is measured by a separate meter, the utility consumption meter.
